Starting with firmware build 30862, Windows driver v7.4.0.30850 and Linux driver v1.2.1-40300, the Series 7 and 8 RAID controllers offer native 4K sector support.For hard disk drives working in 4K native mode, there is no emulation layer in place, and the disk media directly exposes its 4KB physical sector size to the controller firmware and operating system. Readiness of the support for 4KB logical sectors within operating systems differs among their types, vendors and versions.
Note: only UEFI systems can boot from a 4K sector drive. The legacy Ctrl + A controller BIOS displays all 4K and 512 byte drives connected to the controller during POST and there is Ctrl + A support (like Format and Verify) for both 4K & 512 byte drives but INT 13 support for booting is available for 512 byte drives only.
